Passing of Alan George Thorne #2563

Sadly, I have learned that our friend and brother, Al Thorne, passed away suddenly at his home on May 8, 2024. Al had just celebrated his 64th birthday on May 2nd. 

Al first worked for CPS as a civilian in the equipment room of the old police garage. Then, in 1981 he became a sworn member, serving 35 years before retiring in 2016. After retirement he joined the CPVA and he and his loving wife, Marg, were regular attendees of our monthly luncheons and special events. Al loved to occasionally heckle me in a friendly way, keeping me on my toes while I was hosting a luncheon. I remember inviting him to guest host a luncheon, but Al never took me up on my offer. Too bad, as I think he would have done a great job given his sense of humour and quick wit. 

Al will be missed by all, especially those who are used to seeing him at our luncheons.
