Passing of Aire Vink #1300

Sadly, I have learned that our friend and brother, Aire Vink, suffered a stroke on Sunday morning August 18, 2024 and passed away. He died with his loving wife, Maureen and one of his sons with him. Aire was 85 years of age and had been battling cancer for the past year and a half. A tough Dutchman, this was his second stroke but Maureen told me he was determined not to suffer so long as to be institutionalized or in a coma.
I liked Aire very much and always admired his no-nonsense approach and his very Dutch sense of humor. Aire served CPS for 25 years joining in 1967 and retiring in 1992 with the rank of Sergeant. Maureen, his wife of 30 years, let me know that Aire did not want a funeral or anyone making a big fuss over him.
There will be a small informal get together in the near future and I will be sure to let everyone know about it when the details are released, but there will be “no preaching!” – Aire Vink.
